Just found this place about a month ago, the best Mexican food in the metro east hands down. And the margaritas aren't bad either. My fav so far is the coconut marg.
Amazing, probably the best Mexican food I've ever had. The volcano dip is a must try. I got their specialty chimichanga which was delicious and their Mexican Iguana cocktail is my new favorite. Prices are good too. Meals are around $15 and serving sizes are generous.
All of the food was good but little portions! I order steak tacos and it was barley any steak (see photos). The volcano dip was what I came for and it was to die for but again it was a small bowl. The drinks tasted good but I noticed they were all pre-maid and sitting in bottles waiting to be poured in a cup. Very busy and small space so prepare to wait for a seat. Staff was nice and friendly. Over all experience was a good one
This place was fantastic I highly recommend the ribeye tacos. These folks know how to cook a steak. I want to highlight the small things because often it's in the small things that we find authenticity. I grew up from 1972 to 1980 in San Antonio Texas and I was somewhat integrated into a Mexican household with some of our dear friends. I ate very authentic Mexican food and I will tell you that the beans at Oaxaca are as close as I've ever found to that memory and feeling of putting a spoonful of Rosemary's refried beans into my mouth. Excellent I could not recommend it more. They have beautiful artwork on the walls the one mural is a bit perplexing it gave me quite a laugh the man is twirling this woman and it is uncovering her breast which does not offend me in any way what's strange to me though is that she has no nipple. For a place that has such authentic Mexican food you would think that they would actually portray the nipple. Anyway I will be back this place is awesome go spend your money here your stomach will thank you
Absolutely delicious! The non alcoholic drink list is extensive and so far the kiwi is my favorite… Nice staff, quick service and great flavor! Had the fish tacos, omg! Too good!
My family and I visited here for the first time tonight. It was sooooo delicious, don't listen to the reviews about the food not being seasoned. It's all lies, the food was WELL SEASONED and delicious. I guess some people just want the high blood pressure special. I got a Cadillac margarita and it was strong and delicious. I can't wait to go back, it was an hr wait but it's plenty of stores nearby that you can shop at and easily lose track of time.
I can't wait to return. The food was so good, and a wonderful selection. And the Margherita was amazing as well... Next time, we'll try some of the various varieties. The space is smaller than I expected, but maybe that's why our food was served so promptly. And one of my sticklers is....the chips must be fresh and crisp and the salsa not too spicy hot. There's is good!!!
This is by far my favorite Mexican restaurant on the Eastside of the Mississippi. I have never been disappointed with anything. Each of my visits have been top notch.
As with any Mexican restaurant, I'll start off praising their complimentary chips and salsa. If they charged for these like some places do, I would gladly pay. The chips are crisp with a good flavor and the salsa is spicy with a good thickness that clings to the chip. I recommend treating yourself and ordering a side of cheese dip or guacamole to accompany your chips and salsa.
Then there's their Margaritas and all I can say is, OMG. They have so many flavors to choose from and they are all strong. So they truly live up to their name that says, "Margarita Bar". Normally it takes two or more to give me buzz at other Mexican restaurants, but I can get a buzz with one here. My favorites are; Blue Jalapeño and Cadillac.
My most recent visit was to celebrate, National Burrito Day. I went at lunchtime and was able to get a special on the Grilled Chicken Burrito. If size matters for you, this burrito is "HUGE". I had to take a small portion of it home for a night snack. It was filled with; black beans, rice, lettuce, tomato and shredded cheese and then topped chipotle sauce and a dab of sour cream. For me, it was a great way to celebrate National Burrito Day.
A previous visit, I enjoyed an order of their Nachos Supremos. If you order these, make sure you have someone to share them with. When I ordered them, I took a pass on the free chips and salsa and that was a smart move.
The service is friendly and very attentive. I eat at a lot of Mexican restaurants and they by far offer the best service.
